COAST FOOTBALL IN GHANA

The contemporary history the world's favorite game spans more than 100 years. It all began in 1863 in England where rugby football and association football brought off on their different courses and the football association in England was formed becoming the sport's first governing body. Over 100 years after the formation of this beautiful game, it has spread across the globe. Football is now the most popular game on planet earth, the game football has employed millions of people both young and old across the world, including Ghana. However, before football gets to its current level, it all started from juvenile or coast level football. Coast football is the basis of all football, it is played across Ghana, that is, to say it is played from the south to the north and from the east to the west.
Though most people in Ghana including some prominent members of the Ghana Football Association (G.F.A) which is the main body in charge of football in Ghana seems not to pay proper attention to it, juvenile football is arguably the basis of all football across the world. Juvenile football is the type of football that is played below the premier division, that is from division one to division four.
Most of these coast teams play their games on a very bad pitches particularity those in Ghana. Though most juvenile teams play their matches on rough pitches beautiful football is displayed by these young players. In fact, this tell us how talented players from juvenile level are.It is said that scientist do not manufacture but they discover, this means that a lot of talent is hidden some where, until this talent is discovered nobody knows its where about.
Over the years, the various national teams have seen a lot of players from the coast level, while premiere league teams such as Hearts of Oak, Asante Kotoko, Liberty professionals, Hearts of lions etc are all major beneficiaries coast level football players. Great players such as Abedi pele, Anthony Yeboah, Osei Kuffour, Micheal Essien and many others started their football carrier from the coast level. Coast teams in Ghana have achieve a lot of good things for Ghana football.
Despite numerous achievement of coast football in Ghana it has surrounded by a lot of difficulties and challenges which need to be rectified. These problems however will be discussed in the subsequent articles. In countries such as the Great Britain, Brazil Italy, Germany, Argentina and Spain, football has developed to is highest level because they have a very solid foundation for football, this means that juvenile or coast football is well managed in these countries. Today, every player in Ghana wants to play his future football in the English premiere league, Spanish laliga Italian serie A the German bundesliga and so on. why is this so? time will surely tell.
